Commonly Confused Words
22 Feb 22:58
When your sheep's wool is long and curly, do you sheer it or shear it? When tired, do you lay down or lie down for a nap? Even native English speakers can be confused by homonyms and words that some teachers call "confusables."
Grimms' Fairy Tales
15 Feb 22:33
Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm were nineteenth-century Germans who set out to preserve their country's oral folk tales by writing them down. The stories were often cruel, but once the brothers saw how popular the tales were with young readers, they started making them softer, sweeter and more moral.

Valentine's Day Cards
01 Feb 22:45
The selection of free Valentine's Day cards on the Internet is awesome. For this week's picks, I included one e-card site (where you send your greetings via email) and four sites for printing cards on paper. After all these years of e-this and e-that, I feel a paper card that is either mailed or given in person is so much more special. Happy Valentine's Day!
Native American Villages
Native American Villages
The Third graders at Francis Parker School in San Diego, CA have been studying Native American tribes throughout North America. Each class studied different tribes. Groups of students selected a tribe they wanted to research. Each person in the group was responsible for a different part of tribal life.Library resources and the internet were used to write a rough draft. The final copy was written, and a sketch of the village was drawn. Then each group built their village based on their research.
All the third grade classes visited each others villages while members of the group explained the tribes' everyday life. The parents also came to see the villages the classes had worked on together.
