Native American Villages

The Third graders at Francis Parker School in
San Diego, CA have been studying Native American tribes throughout
North America. Each class studied different tribes. Groups of
students selected a tribe they wanted to research. Each person in
the group was responsible for a different part of tribal life.
Library resources and the internet were used to
write a rough draft. The final copy was written, and a sketch of
the village was drawn. Then each group built their village based on
their research.
All the third grade classes visited each others
villages while members of the group explained the tribes' everyday
life. The parents also came to see the villages the classes had
worked on together.
